Meetings/Events

 

General membership meetings are held on the fourth Thursday night of January, March, May and September and on the third Thursday night of November.  The meetings begin with a “covered dish” dinner and include an interesting history related program.  Our meeting place changes, so call 910-457-0579 or e-mail us from the home page for the latest update.

 

The executive board meets on the third Thursday of each month except November when we meet on the second Thursday.  The meetings are open to all society members and we invite your participation and input.  Please let the president know if you would like to attend and have an issue for the agenda.

 

The society sponsors the annual Southport Christmas Tour of Homes on the second Saturday of each December.  This has become a much anticipated event and hundreds of folks enjoy this holiday treat.

 

Southport Heritage Days are celebrated each Memorial Day weekend in May and the society plans an event or two during the weekend.  Whether it’s “An Old Fashion Day in the Park” or a “Ladies Heritage Tea” or some other fun activity we always look forward to Heritage Days.  We also lay a new stepping stone on the Heritage Walk at the waterfront at this time each year.

 

Book signings, lectures, walking tours, student programs and other events are also sponsored by the society. 

 

We have many plans for more interesting events in the future and hope you will continue to check the website for upcoming dates and activities.
